FAQ
How are orders processed?
Most orders are dispatched by airmail in 1-7 days, many books arrive in Europe/North America in less than a week. Occasionally some titles may have to be restocked, we will tell you if there will be any delay. Professional protective envelope and boxes always used. We are unaware of any shipments having ever gone astray or damaged.
I need a book not listed. Can you help?
Email us at BooksfromTaiwan@gmail.com if looking for something not listed, or you have a special request. We may know of additional titles specific to certain areas or specialties. We have decided not to be the most comprehensive bookstore on the Internet. However, we have done our best to select what we personally think are the best books worthy of your attention - others not listed (in our opinion) are outdated, inaccurate, or have minimal benefit to non-Chinese readers.
Some books are in Chinese - what use will they be to me?
We have chosen books that have proven useful to non-Chinese readers. At minimum you can expect good pictures and scientific (Latin) names. Often much more is available - diagrams, distribution maps, sizes, and common (English) names.
Who is behind Books from Taiwan?
This book store is run by, and for, people with a love for Taiwan. We are a family enterprise run by Northern Ireland born and raised, Richard Foster. We are proud long-term residents of Tainan, southern Taiwan. For nature-focused tours of Taiwan see http://www.taiwanecotours.com/
I am a dealer/bulk buyer/author/publisher. Can I make a suggestion?
We always welcome discussing new opportunities for cooperation. Tell us your idea BooksfromTaiwan@gmail.com
Are any of the titles available as e-books?
A few are, and many more will be soon. There are some technical/language/e-reader compatibility issues to overcome first. We will be listing some good titles in Kindle format before too long.
Are these books really printed and published properly?
Yes these are all well printed, bound and packaged. All are the genuine thing - no copies or reproductions. We have rejected various titles that don’t meet our requirements of being useful, easy of use, relevant, and up to date.
Do you deal in live/dead insect specimens?
No.
[yes, that is a question occasionaly asked]
