There are excellent topographical maps for hiking Taiwan's highest mountains and trails, published mostly by Sun River (Taiwan nearest thing to the Ordnance Survey or the Geological Survey). Their only negative is that they printed in Chinese only. If requested we can have some handwritten annotations in English added, indicating important points. Note Taiwan's mountain terrain can be surprisingly challenging and remote. Never attempt a trail without the proper experience and preparation. . The 'TM__' series is the most up to date, and readily available. All are printed on tough weather-proof 77 x 53 cm plastic-paper; have a scale of 1:25,000; 10 meter contour lines; indicate most important landmarks; and come folded in a useful cardboard sleeve printed with relevant photographs. On each map are suggested itineraries, standard times, campsite coordinates, an elevation chart, and a larger scale map of the general area. Details coming soon!
